Todd Small brings an elite competitive background and Division I coaching experience to Chain Wrestling Academy.
Originally from Suwanee, Georgia, Todd built his foundation as one of the Southeast’s premier high school wrestlers, capping his prep career with two Georgia state titles, 175 career wins, and multiple All-American honors. He carried that momentum into college at Iowa Central, where he captured two NJCAA National Championships competing at 125 and 133 pounds.
Todd transitioned to Iowa State University to compete in the Big 12, establishing himself as an NCAA qualifier and competing against the top collegiate wrestlers in the nation. During his career with the Cyclones, he reached national rankings as high as No. 10 in the NCAA and No. 3 in the Big 12, placing at major national events including the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and the Southern Scuffle, while earning First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors.
Following his competitive career, Todd joined the coaching staff at Iowa State as a Graduate Assistant and Assistant Coach, gaining hands-on experience developing athletes inside a Top-10 nationally ranked Division I program.
At Chain Wrestling Academy, Todd brings those high-level technical systems, preparation strategies, and accountability standards to athletes at every stage of their development.
Our Standard & Coaching Philosophy
“We believe wrestling builds better people first—and better wrestlers because of it.”
While technical execution is critical, Todd views wrestling as a vehicle for developing the whole athlete. His approach is built on four core pillars:
Whether an athlete is stepping onto the mat for the first time or training for state and national titles, Todd is committed to providing standard-setting coaching in an environment built for growth.
