A Competitor's Mindset. A Foundation for the Next Generation.

As a native of St Augustine, Tyler Sapp brings a lifelong commitment to competitive sports and firsthand wrestling and grappling experience to Chain Wrestling Academy.

A varsity wrestler at St. Augustine High School, Tyler earned a varsity starting position as a freshman walk-on in 2024-25. He finished his freshman season with a 20-10 record, including a 15-5 record in the second half of the season, earned third place at the district tournament, and was named the team's Most Improved Wrestler.

Tyler began competing in organized sports at age five and entered combat sports at age eleven. In addition to wrestling, he has earned multiple medals in youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi and No-Gi) tournaments through organizations including Newbreed, Jiu Jitsu World League, Jitzking, GB Compnet, and Tap Cancer Out.

From Competitor to Mentor

As an Assistant Coach at Chain Wrestling Academy, Tyler will help younger athletes develop fundamental wrestling skills, build confidence, and learn the discipline required to improve. He will also work with beginners in the academy's other programs, helping introduce new athletes to grappling and combat sports.

An active competitor who continues to train and develop his own skills, Tyler understands the importance of consistency, perseverance, and learning from both success and setbacks. He looks forward to sharing those lessons with younger athletes as they begin their own journeys.

Our Standard & Coaching Philosophy

“We believe wrestling builds better people first—and better wrestlers because of it.”

Tyler believes sports teach lessons that extend beyond competition, including discipline, respect, accountability, and perseverance. At Chain Wrestling Academy, he is committed to helping young athletes build strong fundamentals, gain confidence, and develop a positive attitude toward learning and improvement.

Whether an athlete is stepping onto the mat for the first time or beginning to explore competition, Tyler aims to help them grow as athletes, competitors, and people.
